How long is a therapy session?
50 minutes.
How long will I need to have counselling?
This will depend on the issues you want to address in therapy. Anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 months is usual.
How much does counselling cost?
The fee for the first session of counselling is £25 and if you decide to continue the fee is £40 per session.
Reduced fees are available for students and the unwaged.
What to expect from the first session?
During the first session we will begin to get to know each other and to see if you feel comfortable with me and my way of working.
In counselling the quality of the relationship between the counsellor and client is very important so if you feel you can’t relate to a counsellor, don’t continue, try and find someone you feel more comfortable with.
In our first session I will ask you if you would like to give me some information about the problems you are experiencing or to begin to ‘tell your story’. You do not have to tell me everything in the first session, I am happy to work at your pace and to learn more about you when you are ready.
I may also ask what you would like to achieve through your counselling sessions, although for some people, at the beginning of counselling, this can feel hard to define.
Our first session will help me make an assessment and explain if and how I might be able to help.
What is a counselling contract?
A counsellor should agree a contract with you which will include the terms for how they will provide their services. This may be either a verbal agreement or a printed document for you both to sign.
Clent Hills Counselling contract is a written one and includes practical details like times for sessions, fees and how they should be paid and what to do if either of us needs to cancel a session. It also gives information about confidentiality, what the boundaries are and how I keep your personal data safe.
