My aim is to provide a warm and non-judgemental atmosphere. I realise that taking the initial step to access counselling can sometimes be daunting, so please explore this website or contact me for more information about what counselling could offer you.
Juliet May
An introduction…..
Counselling is a talking therapy and I am a trained practitioner able to work with people over a short or long term, helping them bring about effective change or enhance their wellbeing.
I have experience of working in different therapeutic settings including, many years in private practice, a NHS GP surgery, a specialist young people’s service and with adult referrals from a Children’s Centre. I am also a qualified Clinical Supervisor.
As an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and I work according to their code of ethics and framework for good practice (www.bacp.co.uk/ethical_framework) and follow its rules relating to confidentiality. I am also on the BACP Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, which is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care. BACP accreditation recognises the achievement of high standards of knowledge, experience and development in counselling and psychotherapy. It helps clients and employers to make an informed decision when choosing a therapist or service.
My approach to counselling is often creative and this reflects my interest in the visual arts. I also have over 25 years’ experience of working with young people in different settings and am an experienced and qualified lecturer.
When not working I enjoy creating art and design work and walking my lovely Cocker Spaniel called Scout.
